Upgrading

So I finally convinced myself that I should do the update :-) ) You can expect that today some new stuff will arrive to the Citadel, and some changes to the site will happen too. I only hope that I will not broke anything important..

Edit: not so much done yet. I needed to do few things out of my regular shedule. upgrades will continue at a day or two.

Upgrade, upgrade

Looks like that I did not touched Eastern Citadel for some time. When I just looked up to administration, I realized that two new versions of WordPress were released, new phpbb version is out too, and so on.

Why I’m so slow to update? I can only blame work. Well, and my laziness too. ;-)   But would you rather spend your free time to relaxate, or do more work?. I prefer to relaxate..

Anyway, I did some urgent updates, and if I will have some free time in the next two weeks, I will made some changes to the site too (some changes of layout, update some articles, and some changes to the organization of the site).

I hope that I will have time for all the changes ;-)

New Citadel

WordPress released new version of their blogging script, and to keep our little Eastern Citadel safe, It is better to upgrade to this new version.. Unfortunately, old theme stopped working, so I need to find a better one. The current theme is just temporary solution, but it might end as final solution, after I made some tweaks (once I will find some free time to do it).

This post serve as a personal reminder and also as information what you will see on the updated Citadel.

  • Website header – this thing is few years old, and I still don’t have a idea how to solve it.
  • Forum – Old phpBB version 2.x is currently working, but I plan to have implement something new. Current version of phpBB forum is just spam heaven, bcause of this, I disabled registration of new users.
  • New forum script should be lightweight, not robust code compilations like vbulletin / IPB and similar. My current favorite is PunBB. But I’m still looking around, because in the first place I need forum which has native UTF-8 support.
  • Relocate all Warlord-related content to the new website. I have plans how to do Lords list. For spoilers (promos / regular set spoilers) I need to find some suitable solution (especiall searching for specific texts).
  • Contact form – so visitors can contact us. This should be prety easy to do.

I think that more things will come to my mind, once I will have everything moving smootly.
